Letting agreement

Upon payment, guests enter into a letting agreement with the Landlord as described below:

TENANCY

The tenancy applies to the landlord’s house and fishing rights on the River Gaula as described in this agreement.  The rental period is as agreed by email correspondence.

HOST

The River and House will be run by the landlord’s representative known as the Host.  The tenant agrees to abide by any decisions made by the Host relating to the running of the House and the supervision of the fishing within the River boundaries. 

FISHING

The rental includes the landlord’s fishing rights on the stretch from the river outlet at Lower Bank to Rekevikfoss. 

The tenant agrees to adhere to the indicated borders for the rights, as well as no-fishing zones at Osfossen and Rekevikfossen.

The tenant agrees to consult with the Host before gaining access to the River.  The tenant commits to taking all possible care when crossing private farm land to gain access to the River.  Cars may only be parked along the main roads at places indicated by the Host.  Driving to/from the River on farm roads is not permitted.  When on foot, only farm tracks or the edge of fields are to be used to gain access to the River.  Should any damage be caused to farmers’ fences it is to be reported to the Host.

Subject to suitable experience and the agreement of the Host, the tenant may use any of the rowing boats. All boats must be tied at the indicated place and securely locked after use. Life jackets, must be worn at all times in the boats. 

The tenant may make use of the right to fish for salmon or trout.

The daily bag limit is one wild salmon per person per day. Within this limit there is no restriction on the number of fish that may be caught under 65 cms in length and a specified number of fish per week may be taken between 2.5 to 7 kg in June and July. When the day’s quota has been reached, the rod must leave the River, or fish for trout only.  Injured fish should not be released, but should be reported to the Host immediately, for instructions regarding further action and use of the catch.  There is no bag limit on trout and farmed fish.

Catch and Release can be practised until the daily fish has been bagged.

Due to the risk of contamination by gyrodactylus salaris and other diseases it is compulsory for all fishing gear to be disinfected before fishing commences.

In order for fish to be released unharmed fishing is limited to the use of single or double hooks without barbs.

The tenant agrees to recording all fish caught or released of more than 700 grams in the fishing record book and contribute to other recording and the taking of scale samples as necessary as directed by the Host.

Subletting is not permitted.

ODDVARBU AND BOAT HOUSE

Oddvarbu and boat house are to be kept locked when no one is using Muren or Lower Bank.

THE HOUSE

The tenant must provide access for the Host to carry out his duties.

The tenant has the use of the House and all its facilities.

The landlord provides bed sheets and linen.

The House should be kept locked when empty.

The House should be left in good condition at the end of the rental period.

RENT

The rent is NOK XXXX as agreed by email.

Included in the price are 6 rods/guests. Further guests may be allowed provided that this is agreed at the booking stage by email.  

RESERVATIONS

If your anticipated dates are available, we can hold a provisional reservation for 14 days. Bookings are only firm once you have paid a non returnable deposit. The balance will be due 90 days before the commencement of your booking.

Payments are to be made by electronic bank transfer of Norwegian Krone (NOK) to BIC/SWIFT Account No. (to be confirmed on booking).

CANCELLATION 

There is no refund of the deposit.  If the booking is cancelled within 90 days of arrival date there is no refund of the fee.  However, if the period is subsequently let at the same price, 90% of the original fee is returned.

It is recommended that you take out Travel Insurance which includes holiday cancellation.

We regret that there is no refund as a result of adverse river or weather conditions.

The Landlord reserves the right to change prices in the event of increased taxes or fees, changed currency exchange rates or similar actions beyond his control or that could not have been foreseen.

GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION

These terms and conditions are governed by Norwegian law.

The courts of Norway have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising out of or in connection with this agreement. The District Court of Fjordane (Fjordane tingrett) shall be the court of first instance.
