Experience beautiful Norway

For those not hooked on fishing there is plenty else to do! Set in one of the last unspoilt tracts of Europe, Osen is a fantastic base from which to explore the mountains, glaciers, fjords and experience pure viking culture.

  • At one’s doorstep

    There is the house itself, which has a long tradition of being a family holiday home, the river, the waterfall and one of the World’s oldest salmon ladders.  The house is set within Osen farmstead, a classic viking working farm.

  • In the immediate area

    By car to the source of the river is a spectacular trip into the mountains passing some wonderful waterfalls on the way. There are also some fantastic walks or bike rides. A stroll up to the summer pastures and mountain huts is a must.

  • The World’s longest fjord

    Sognafjord, the world’s longest fjord is 45 minutes drive away. If you go, make sure to experience the small communities sorrunding the fjord.

  • Europe’s largest glacier

    Jostedalsbreen Glacier and the Glacier Museum is a highly memorable visit about an hour and a half drive away.

  • Methods of travel

    For any of these excursions, it is possible to combine ferries, trains, the scheduled coach service or alternatively take the small twin engined internal flights from the Forde Airport, which is 12 mins by car from Osen.

  • Kayaking

    Kayaking is available at Lillingstonheimen.no.

     

  • Bergen

    A trip to the one time capital of Norway to see the historic Hanseatic port, part of which is classified as a world heritage site.

    The trip to Bergen can also be made by hydrofoil through the fjords and islands of the Norwegian Atlantic coastline or via the mountain railway at Flam.

  • Mountain Walking

    There are some beautiful walks to suit all from gentle strolls to advanced Kletterstieg type adventure.Description goes here

  • Deer stalking and hunting

    The season starts in September but there are plenty of opportunities to see deer in the mountains.

  • Troll fishing

    Pack your bag and get inspired by the Norwegian mountains while doing what you like most.

  • Cycling or mountain biking

    There are some excellent cycling and mountain biking opportunities to be had locally.
